Kevin McCarthy protege stabbed in altercation with children after allegedly sexual assaulting preteen

Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner is being investigated on allegations he sexually assaulted a preteen, Sheriff Donny Youngblood said during a press conference Thursday afternoon.

On Tuesday night, Youngblood said, he received a call from District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer, Scrivner’s aunt, saying she was concerned about him, he appeared to being having some type of psychotic episode and was armed with a gun.

deputies learned Scrivner had been involved in a physical altercation with his children and was stabbed twice in the upper body, Youngblood said. The altercation occurred over the sex assault allegations, the sheriff said.

[bold]Thirty guns[/bold], electronic devices and psychedelic mushrooms were seized from the home, Youngblood said. He said forensic studies will determine whether Scrivner was under the influence.

There is a criminal protective order barring Scrivner from having contact with his children.

Piece. Of. Shit. Too bad the kids didn't finish the job.

It's gotta be the mushrooms.

WTF is straight, married, middle America (whole-family-sucking-on-the-government-teat division) up to these days?

Impending divorce, suicidal. Preteen is said to be his 11 year old daughter. Four children total. Apparently, one set of grandparents was in the house.

It's the Republican family values system at work

[quote] Thirty guns, electronic devices and psychedelic mushrooms were seized from the home

Everyone has "electronic devices" in their home.

What a stupid thing to write.

It would help if they were more specific. An iron? A dishwasher? I mean, WTF?

by Anonymousreply 6April 26, 2024 6:49 PM

Remote-control sex toys? iPods? Alexa? a Roomba?

The mind boggles, R6

by Anonymousreply 7April 26, 2024 6:52 PM

When I think of devices where porn might be stored or through which communications take place, irons and dishwashers are top-of-mind. Great minds, right, r6?

Family values on full display.

These are our new rulers, everyone. Once SCOTUS rules that Trump has any sort of immunity and Project 2025 is implemented, guys like this and their wives who allow/support it all will be running the show. Too many purity tests and "he's too old" and now we're going to find out .

Another Bakersfield POS:

A Republican state senator from Bakersfield was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of drunken driving near the state Capitol, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to CBS13, Sen. Roy Ashburn received the citation after leaving Faces. The bar's website says, "Sacramento's premier GLBTI Nightclub since 1985 is growing to meet the ever changing tastes and needs of the Sacramento community."

Ashburn has a history of opposition to gay rights legislation.

^ Go back in the closet, repug 😬

by Anonymousreply 15April 27, 2024 11:39 AM

OP this has less to do with him being a Republican and more to do with him being from Bakersfield.

Even in LA, with all its problems, people shudder when you mention the word ‘Bakersfield.’

I always get Bakersfield and Stockton mixed up

R16 - I'm a native Sacramentan and well acquainted with Bakersfield and Fresno, Lodi, Merced, Modesto, and 😬Stockton😬, the cities/towns along 99. I went to college with kids from those places, too. Alright in the '80s. Methy AF now. But I don't think you can argue that a Republican there is indistinct from Democrat because Bakersfield.

Fun fact: Fresno's population now exceeds Sacramento's.

These try-outs for Trump's VP are getting out of hand.

Evidence evaluated by detectives will go to an outside agency due to a conflict of interest. The Kern County District Attorney is Scrivner’s aunt.

Youngblood said the department would request the Attorney General’s office or a nearby sheriff’s office to take over the investigation. But as of Monday, the sheriff’s office was still reviewing evidence and gathering interviews and could not provide an update.

The Kern County Board of Supervisors will meet again on May 7. It’s unclear if Scrivner will attend the meeting. He last appeared on April 23, the day Sheriff Youngblood reported the incidents at Scrivner’s home. At that meeting, Scrivner led a proclamation naming last week “Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Kern County.”
