15 years ago, in the early morning hours of April 25, 2009, Emmy winning actress Be Arthur passed away from lung cancer at her Los Angeles home. She was 86 years old, and died just a few weeks before her 87th birthday (May 13). Her remains were cremated, and given to a family member. Arthur was the second cast member of the hit NBC sitcom "The Golden Girls" to die, less than a year after actress Estelle Getty, who died in July, 2008.

She was always billed as Beatrice and referred to herself as Beatrice. But everybody called her Bea.
And she was actually Bernice.
