Kenny Rankin breathed life, depth, and expressiveness into tunes whose first version were often boring, repetitious, and tuneless. Listen to what Kenny does to “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “House of Gold.” Pure genius. Listing Kenny version’s first followed by the original…..Wait for it….
Kenny Rankin Appreciation - Brilliant re-inventor of songs whose original versions were often clunky and banal.

His music is timeless. I bought a CD of his music decades ago - still have it. Here is one of the Beatles songs (Blackbird) that he sang - really wonderful. Also another one I'm fond of is 'Haven't We Met' . He was on Johnny Carson numerous times back in the day - Johnny loved his music.

OP are you Kenny’s mom? Doesn’t even come close to the original George Harrison version.

To Kenny’s mom: his Blackbird version is pure elevator music

No R 6.....Kenny brings out the lyricism of the tune, so you really hear what George's sentiments are all about. Beautiful job.

OP is right. I never would have paid attention to House of Gold the way Hank performs it. Total hillbilly cornball style. Kenny turns it on it's head. It's a gorgeous melodic song.
