Bernie is now fundraising off of Pete's wine cellar fundraiser

Subject line was literally “wine cave,” I shit you not. The pettiness, honey. 😂

[quote]Now, I am not entirely sure what happens when people pay huge sums of money to have dinner with a candidate at a wine cave with "1,500 Swarovski crystals," but I would guess they are not talking about standing up to the greed of the billionaire class of this country. Needless to say, we will never have a fundraiser at a wine cave. But we do need your help to fight back against the wine cave money flooding into this race stop us. So we're asking...

[quote]Now, I am not entirely sure what happens

A designated reporter was there, so we know exactly what happened and what was said. Cut the Trumpian populism.

[quote]when people pay huge sums of money to have dinner

Just a gentle reminder that that "huge sum of money" mentioned can be $2.800 max and you can't donate to that candidate again for the rest of the primary should you reach that limit. Contrast that to Pence's dinner the other day where the entry fee was 20k a head. Or Warren's fundraisers last year where donations went up to 4k, before DNC's primary rules kicked in.

He seemed to enjoy these fundraisers the last time around. Wonder what happened? 🤨

I wish someone would call him on the bullshit that he spouts. How many houses do you have Bernie? P.S. your wife should be in jail for what she did.

by Anonymousreply 3December 17, 2019 2:26 AM

So Pete likes wine?

That makes me like him even more.

by Anonymousreply 4December 17, 2019 2:30 AM

Don't anyone tell Bernard that wineries are everywhere in Napa and that hipsters enjoy them these days as well. They're not just a high-priced corporate thing anymore.

r4 He's more of a whiskey guy, I think he said the other day.

by Anonymousreply 5December 17, 2019 2:37 AM

Next we'll be seeing a video of Pete hanging ten on a surfboard!

by Anonymousreply 6December 17, 2019 2:43 AM

Politics aside, can I just say how much I LOVE the interior of that winery!!! It's so goth, so Interview with a Vampire. Love.

by Anonymousreply 7December 17, 2019 2:46 AM

r6 He rode an electric scooter for the first time the other day. Close enough!

I can't get over these D.C. barnacles giving this poor Midwestern mayor grief for having dinner in a nice place now and then. They do realise he's not taking the campaign funds into his pocket and that he and Chasten are still eating microwaved tuna when they're back home, right? Leave him be, ffs!

The SHADE of it all!

by Anonymousreply 9December 17, 2019 2:53 AM

I too live in a cave, but, unfortunately, have neither wine nor Swarovski crystals to enjoy.

by Anonymousreply 10December 17, 2019 2:59 AM

This old MF. I swear. I don't give a flying FUCK about fundraisers like these. It's so easy for him and Warren to throw these petty "purity tests" out when they're established figures with huge name recognition - were each able to enter the race with huge war chests and long donor lists.... now they just to want to pull the carpet out from under anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 11December 17, 2019 3:04 AM

It's not easy.

They had to win senate seats first to have that name recognition.

by Anonymousreply 12December 17, 2019 3:11 AM

It is NOT your liquor! *hiccup*

by Anonymousreply 13December 17, 2019 3:12 AM

R12, do you know how expensive it is to run for president?

by Anonymousreply 14December 17, 2019 3:13 AM

[quote]It's not easy. They had to win senate seats first to have that name recognition.

r12 And just how do you think they managed to do that? This invite from 2012 contains a clue - look under "suggested contributions." Kevin Ryan is a Wall Street investor, by the way. Yes, this is how Warren got her Senate seat. This is how ALL of them get their Senate seats. And they're now denouncing a no-name mayor for doing the same while playing by the rules of that fairly restrictive $2.800 limit. They want to kneecap him so he won't have enough money to campaign with, that's all there is to it.

R5, interesting! If he does drink any kind of wine, I see him as a grenache kind of guy.

by Anonymousreply 18December 17, 2019 3:27 AM

Pete is broke as fuck -- that is why he is holding fundraisers. He's said this before. Unlike Sanders, he lacks the recognition and built-in fan base needed to fund a grassroots campaign. Isn't robbing the rich one of Bernie's mantras anyway? #FeelTheButt

by Anonymousreply 19December 17, 2019 3:28 AM

Oh Bernie, I like you, I like your message, this ain't, oh, jeebus, this ain't the way.

by Anonymousreply 20December 17, 2019 3:29 AM

r19 I mean, Pete has over 700k donors, so he's grassroots funded as well. And he definitely couldn't compete using the cash from these fundraisers alone. Of course, Bernie has an enormous established network back from 2015, so you can't really compare the two.

by Anonymousreply 21December 17, 2019 3:33 AM

I dislike Bernie, but that’s genius.

by Anonymousreply 22December 17, 2019 3:35 AM

[quote]These people are fucking poison.

No, it's politics. Politics is hardball. No one is obligated to get out of anyone else's way. Only voters make the final call.

The problem is that the primary season starts eons ahead of the first vote.

by Anonymousreply 23December 17, 2019 3:36 AM

Has his campaign named his G5 private jet yet?

by Anonymousreply 24December 17, 2019 3:38 AM

r23 No, it's not politics, it's populism. The same kind of populism that poisoned the well for Hillary in 2016. You don't attack your DEMOCRATIC competitors on how they raise their funds, especially when they're doing it transparently, within DNC limits, and open to the press.

Go attack Trump's $300+ million warchest of dirty money instead. Bernie really thinks these Trumpian smears will make me vote for him in the general? Good luck with that. Also, we really should stick to talking about policy, not how many Swarovski crystals there are in a random wine cave in Napa. I mean, seriously. This is presidential politics, not kindergarten.

by Anonymousreply 25December 17, 2019 3:41 AM

Oh, god, the "private planes" smear. Haven't hear that one in months. Counting down to "0% black support" being mentioned. Any moment now... 🤣

by Anonymousreply 26December 17, 2019 3:43 AM

Or maybe Pete should just own it. he basically loves the rich and thinks income inequality is pretty much fine, just throw a few more pennies at the poors and everyone will be okay. He could go down that road, without much cost to himself, really.

by Anonymousreply 27December 17, 2019 3:44 AM

[quote] Or maybe Pete should just own it. he basically loves the rich

Bingo.

by Anonymousreply 28December 17, 2019 3:46 AM

r17 PeteSwineCave.com?

They're calling the homosexual candidate a swine? Just a coincidence, I'm sure. 🤦‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 29December 17, 2019 3:47 AM

r28 You gave yourself a WW within seconds AGAIN. I just saw it, bitch! So gross.

by Anonymousreply 30December 17, 2019 3:48 AM

R28, yes. I'm sure Pete and Chasten are rolling in the dough, with their modest house and college debt vs. Bernie and his multiple homes.

by Anonymousreply 31December 17, 2019 3:49 AM

r27 None of his policy positions released so far would support the assertion that he loves the rich. In fact, I don't think spending $2.800 on a candidate you really like is considered something only rich people do. In fact, many have maxed out to Bernie as well.

by Anonymousreply 32December 17, 2019 3:50 AM

r31 Four homes by the latest count, I think. Champagne socialist through and through.

by Anonymousreply 33December 17, 2019 3:51 AM

tax the rich. that should be every Democrats first plank. Tax the fucking rich. Sick of this shit. Tax the goddamn rich.

by Anonymousreply 34December 17, 2019 3:52 AM

We have had fifty fucking years of worrying, constantly, about the fact that the rich are "overtaxed." Time to reverse that shit. the rich are ridiculously undertaxed. Tax the fuckers.

by Anonymousreply 35December 17, 2019 3:53 AM

r31 Here are Pete supporters playfully mocking Pete's and Chasten's small kitchen and badly-painted dank garden the other day. But yes, these two love rich people, I can totally see it!

by Anonymousreply 36December 17, 2019 3:55 AM

r34 & r35 You're preaching to the choir here. Tell that to Trump who only further increased income inequality, not to Dem candidates trying to reverse his actions.

by Anonymousreply 37December 17, 2019 3:58 AM

Super r36, good on them. Now, tax the mother fucking rich. Make it a plank. Make it a promise. Make it a thing. everyone stop acting like giving the rich more money is the be all, end all of government. Tax the bastards. don't tell me how down to earth you are. Don't tell me how down with the little people you are. don't tell about Mama Mia or the shtetl or the old neighborhood or how you grew up. Tax the mother fucking rich and stop dicking around about this.

Thanks in advance.

by Anonymousreply 38December 17, 2019 3:58 AM

and yes, r37, Trump like every republican is a complete cunt on the question. goes without saying. Every Republican is shit on this question. Too many Democrats are also shit. Some are not. All must be asked: are you going to be a complete asshole when it comes to the rich?

by Anonymousreply 39December 17, 2019 4:00 AM

Stinks of petty desperation. If this man truly cared about this country, he would NOT be running again and deeply fracturing an already broken Democratic Party. Seriously fuck him and his foaming-at-the-mouth fanboys.

by Anonymousreply 40December 17, 2019 4:01 AM

i like bernie sanders. Feel the Bern

by Anonymousreply 41December 17, 2019 4:03 AM

Not always sure about Bernie. He may not be the one. But he and Warren get the fundamental fact: we have been fucking around with this stupid idea that giving the rich more money is the greatest idea the government can have for a very long time and it accomplishes nothing. If others are willing to acknowledge that fact, great. if not, fuck em.

by Anonymousreply 42December 17, 2019 4:06 AM

Hopefully he strokes out soon.

by Anonymousreply 43December 17, 2019 4:08 AM

He only spent $443,000 on private jets in Q4. A distant second to Biden.

Everyone is against big money in politics until they find they need it themselves.

I sure wish all these Democratic candidates would stop crapping on each other and see who can lay the biggest crap on Trump.

by Anonymousreply 47December 17, 2019 11:35 PM

Bernie is a nasty man. He looks like he smells that old man smell.
