Why wasn't Anne Archer bigger?

Seems like she had her day in the spotlight and now only works when she wants to. She had a nice career in the 1980's and 90's, slowing down as the 2010's rolled around, but probably made a nice living, wasn't stalked by the press as a superstar (even though she was quite beautiful and could have had a bigger "A" list career), and now just enjoys her life. She has been married to the same man for 40 years. How many people can say that, let alone actors?

Anne was waaaaay prettier and sexier than Glenn in Fatal Attraction. I remember talking about that at the time, why would he settle for hamburger (not very attractive, psychotic hamburger at that) when he had filet mignon at home?

For all the talk about how the Co$ unleashes your potential, with very few exceptions its adherents tend to rise only to the middle of the ladder. Cruise and Travolta are exceptions but name any other performer and they may have successful careers (regular work, fair name recognition) but it's not like they've all reached the apex of stardom/riches/fame.
