Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders Have a Problem: Each Other

[quote]They’ve abided by a de facto nonaggression pact. But to win the Democratic nomination, one must prevail over the other by consolidating the left.

[quote]Many supporters of Ms. Warren worry that Mr. Sanders will never drop out. And some fear his persistence in the race will damage her. “Sanders is a problem for her in two ways: one in terms of the votes that would otherwise go to her, and two, by forcing her to go to the left,” former Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts said. “Her ability to respond to concerns about electability is hampered by her concern that she’ll be overtaken by Sanders on the left.”

[quote]For all their public praise for each other, Ms. Warren and Mr. Sanders are not in frequent contact. They have not explicitly discussed any hands-off agreement, let alone considered any future unity effort. The last time they spoke, aides said, was a brief conversation last month in which Ms. Warren told him about her new health care plan and he politely noted he had a different view. But with 50 days until the Iowa caucuses, some of their admirers are hoping they will begin a dialogue.

[quote]Warren turns down the chance to tell Iowa voters why she might be the better candidate over Bernie Sanders: "Nah. Bernie & I have been friends for a long, long time and -- long before I ever got into politics. ... And I'm just not going to stand here, and, and -- No, I'm not."

What bullshit. The DNC put Warren in the race to try and steal Sanders thunder. She will tank.

by Anonymousreply 2December 16, 2019 12:07 PM

Bernie’s a fucking Independent Socialist!!! Not a Democrat.

Oh, my.

I have no dog in this fight, but when it becomes public knowledge that Bernie is a atheist, he won’t stand a chance against President Trump.

by Anonymousreply 5December 16, 2019 12:20 PM

We know Sanders is a misogynist. What else is new.

by Anonymousreply 6December 16, 2019 12:25 PM

So they'll continue to squabble, and all of their supporters will get all butt hurt and decide to refuse to support the Democratic nominee (whoever that will be) and then they'll sit out the election and we'll have four more years of Trump.

Thread closed.

The DNC thought Warren would be a Sanders killer. Clearly it hasn't happened and ownt happen. Is supporters of Bernie are loyal and wont fall for faux progrevissm.

by Anonymousreply 8December 16, 2019 12:28 PM

Neither one of them will never, ever be the nominee.

These discussions are pointless.

"Neither one of them will never, ever be the nominee."

They will if they team up. If Warren drops out AND Sanders announces that she will be his choice for Veep before Iowa, they'd be unstoppable. Biden, Buttigieg... they'd be dust.

Da Russians have pru-awmussed me a Lamba-geeny.

They'd capture a whopping 25% of Democratic primary voters in normal, non-caucus states that have the big delegate counts.

by Anonymousreply 12December 18, 2019 2:18 AM

How's that teaming up thing going?

Warren & Sanders all the way!

Idiot.

by Anonymousreply 13December 22, 2019 5:49 PM

Clever idea - let the primaries sort this out.

by Anonymousreply 14December 22, 2019 5:51 PM

He's still chipping away at her support and she won't do anything about it. Her loss.
