He was majorly hot in the early 1980s.

He's going to miss Phillip's Exeter Academy and all that area. The first run in with a Canadian like this.

Did him get genius visa two?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 15, 2019 9:46 PM |
Jesus. I swear he was dead. I am a huge John Irving fan, so it's not like I just assumed he was dead in general, I genuinely remember reading somewhere a few years ago that he was dead and feeling genuine sorrow over it. I've well and truly lost it now.

e was majorly hot in the early 1980s.
Many people were majorly hot 40 years ago.

Canadians should be aware of an upcoming influx of bears, incestuous relationships, wrestling singlets, and a stray Viennese or two.

He took his tranny son.

He has money.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 15, 2019 10:13 PM |
He's still doable.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 15, 2019 10:17 PM |
He retained his U.S. citizenship, but regardless, we'll make sure he continues to pay taxes to the IRS.

An old white cis straight male.....no lose to the country.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 15, 2019 10:23 PM |
R5 I'm right there with you. Have read several of John Irving's books over the years, and I could have sworn that a few years ago he dies and I read his obituary. Weird.

He’s got a shitload of money and is a recognized literary figure.
Me?
Not so much.
Canada doesn’t want a bunch of working class american geezers begging for citizenship so they can get universal healthcare they never paid into.

because I don't feel like living in a frozen tundra 9 months out of the year and I still value what America represents

R12, what kind of people are acceptable to you?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 15, 2019 10:53 PM |
I always felt like I could tell which parts of “Garp” he was erect when he wrote, which made me even more erect than I already was. I have to admit, as a teenager that book majorly turned me on.

R12 Boris spell loss correctly next time. They are beginning to figure us out.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 15, 2019 11:02 PM |
He's bisexual.

It was Pat Conroy who died.

R17 tell me more!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 16, 2019 12:00 AM |
Yeah, what R11 said. The problem with any of us going to another country is that they still make us pay taxes to the US. Even that fuckhead Boris Johnson went through hell with paying taxes as an American citizen. He was born here and practically left the same day he was born. They kept after him for taxes despite never actually residing here.

John Irving married a Canadian women who lives in Toronto. That's the whole story.

"because I don't feel like living in a frozen tundra 9 months out of the year"
That won't be a problem in a few years.
" and I still value what America represents"
Donald Trump? Kleptocracy? Rich people run the elections? Please be specific.

Once Trumpy Doug Ford is through gutting healthcare and education, Ontario will be a less appealing place to relocate.

[quote] why can't you do it?
It's not like you just show up at the border and get handed your citizenship papers.
