They were all so young. RIP.
Bill Macy died? Who knew?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 15, 2019 3:11 AM |
Why don't they wait until the end of December in case there are any late entries?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 15, 2019 3:17 AM |
I think they add them later.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 15, 2019 3:19 AM |
Hold on Olivia!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 15, 2019 3:22 AM |
Really bad song. Typical of today. I think they call it vagina music.
I didn't recognize most of them. The ones I did, I didn't even know they'd died.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 15, 2019 3:25 AM |
Lots of surprises there for me. Some real favorites too. R.I.P. gentle souls.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 15, 2019 3:30 AM |
Why don't they allow time for more people to die?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 15, 2019 3:41 AM |
Albert Finney died? How did I miss that one?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 15, 2019 6:47 AM |
Wow, they included people who died just in the last few days.
Take that, Academy.
Loved the very end going to DoDo.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 15, 2019 6:57 AM |
Mostly a bunch of nobodies. The only three from that clip I'll personally miss are Valentina Cortese, Bruno Ganz and Doris Kappelhoff.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 15, 2019 6:58 AM |
Hmm... who did they forget, (or snub for time?).. umm... Nobody! Fuck you, Academy!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 15, 2019 7:14 AM |
Oh, no...Michael J. Pollard died? I liked his quirky style. Star Trek and Bonnie and Clyde made him famous.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 15, 2019 7:27 AM |
Virginia Leith from The Head That Wouldn't Die !! Who knew???
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 15, 2019 7:34 AM |
They included Rip Torn but not Rip Taylor!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 15, 2019 7:37 AM |
I didn't know we lost Bibi Andersson this year.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 15, 2019 7:49 AM |
They included Valerie Harper but not Georgia Engel.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 15, 2019 7:56 AM |
R15 Poor Bibi had a stroke about 10 years earlier that left her unable to speak.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 15, 2019 7:57 AM |
They left out Phillip McKeon. What is this world coming to?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 15, 2019 8:27 AM |
R16, TCM was commemorating the departeds' contributions to theatrical film. The snippet of Valerie Harper was from the movie "Chapter Two." Perhaps Georgia Engel was strictly tv.

I guess the DL thread didn't stick around long enough.

These are always so well done.

I wonder if the Oscars will include Carol Channing? She only made about four or five movies, but she was Oscar nominated for one of them (Thoroughly Modern Millie).

Excuse ME, but she did provide the voice of Love-a-Lot Bear in [italic]The Care Bears Movie.

And how did THAT happen ? ? ? ? ?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 15, 2019 3:04 PM |
Both Georgia Engel and Philip McKeon were strictly TV. Georgia did a lot of stage work, however.

I actually won an Oscar and was still omitted by whatever 23-year-old intern was in charge of putting the "in memoriam" together.

Couldn't watch past 2 '. Apart from Fonda and Sylvia Miles I didn't know any of these people. Is Albert Finney on the list ? Always thought he was the poor man's Alan Bates, but he was sexy in the movie with Hepburn, and good in shoot the moon
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 15, 2019 4:15 PM |
For once I agree with who they saved for last: DORIS DAY.

Why did you bother watching at all, in that case?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 15, 2019 4:21 PM |
I read the ' so young ' comment, and I thought I'd see some hot piece of dead ass
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 15, 2019 4:26 PM |
Love the trolls chiming in to claim they don't know any of these people
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 15, 2019 4:27 PM |
^^Like it's a badge of honor of some kind. "I'm not an old fart like most of you and couldn't possibly know who these people are!"
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 15, 2019 4:35 PM |
Thanks R33, you said it better than I ever could have
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 15, 2019 4:47 PM |
The year isn't over yet!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 15, 2019 4:53 PM |
r33, they are probably old farts themselves, trying to make you think they're young so DLers can whine about "kids today"
Look at r28, what young person would know Sylvia Miles?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 15, 2019 5:01 PM |
Everybody who saw ' midnight cowboy ' = every gay. I didn't mean that I am younger, that's on YOU ! I meant that they are rather obscure. Get over yourselves boomers !!!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 15, 2019 5:04 PM |
They always do these memorial videos a hundred times better than at the Oscars.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 15, 2019 5:11 PM |
True, R38. What I dislike most about the Oscar remembrance is that the images of the deceased become background decor so that we can focus on some singer wailing in the foreground.

No (R21) sir/madam. Why do you ask?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 16, 2019 4:59 AM |
If only Trump would have died. There would have been celebrations breaking out all over the country...all over the world.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 16, 2019 5:30 AM |
I already know this is better than the Oscars. The Oscars should do a online version that includes everyone.
