The War on Warren

Is anyone else pissed that she seems to be sidelined by the media, who are determined to shove Mayor Pete and/or Biden down our throats?

by Anonymousreply 56December 16, 2019 5:43 AM

Nope I hear her mentioned on the news a lot more than Pete is.

by Anonymousreply 1December 8, 2019 2:14 PM

Sexism. Very obvious.

by Anonymousreply 2December 8, 2019 2:23 PM

Because everyone knows she won't get the nomination.

by Anonymousreply 3December 8, 2019 2:30 PM

The war is being waged by the heterosexual left against Our Pete. Project much, homophobic OP?

by Anonymousreply 4December 8, 2019 2:32 PM

If you want to see true erasure look at how the press pretends that Bernie Sanders doesnt exist.

Warren is breathlessly fawned over by the same folks who erase Sanders. She sucks and is a faux progressive.

by Anonymousreply 5December 8, 2019 2:32 PM

Why do they erase Sanders? Because he will actually change things?

by Anonymousreply 6December 8, 2019 3:06 PM

Heterosexuality isn’t progressive. Israel bashing isn’t progressive. Transing gay kids isn’t progressive.

by Anonymousreply 7December 8, 2019 3:14 PM

It's really ridiculous even discussing women candidates for president at all. They can't do the job? They are too emotional and weak-willed.

by Anonymousreply 8December 8, 2019 3:14 PM

It’s sickening how women pull the V-card to defend heterosexual privilege.

by Anonymousreply 9December 8, 2019 3:16 PM

MSNBC and their ilk are so far up her ass they should be taxed for it.

by Anonymousreply 10December 8, 2019 3:28 PM

MS = Microsoft = Bill Gates = friend of Epstein

NBC = home of sex pests such as Bill Cosby, Brian Williams, and Matt Lauer

by Anonymousreply 11December 8, 2019 3:32 PM

No one is “shoving Biden down our throats” — we seem to be gobbling him quite willingly, thank you. Poll cumes still show him 12 points ahead of Sanders and 13 points ahead of Warren.

Buttegieg is doing well in the polling in one or two (tiny) early primary/caucus states so the media is focusing on that. But he’s a blip — he will never be the nominee. He only has slightly more than ten percent of democrats supporting him nationally.

Huffington Post is up her ass.

I believe the majority of Middle America will not vote for an extremely liberal Democrat like Warren. Middle class, middle age people are scared of the requisite higher taxes necessary to fund the programs that most liberals propose. The only way a Democrat can win is to move to the middle and run as "moderate", which is what Obama did and what Pete is doing, and its the reason for his new-found support in places like Iowa.

If the economy stays positive and unemployment stays low, and the stock market grows/hold steady, I fear enough Americans will hold their nose and vote to keep the current administration. It's obvious that the Republicans' strategy is to say nothing negative about him and instead fall in line behind Trump in order to hold onto power.

Ultimately I think Biden will be the candidate, with a younger running mate, and he will infer that he will only serve one term and then step aside and support his VP as candidate in 2024. Under this scenario it's unlikely he would select another white male as running mate in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 14December 8, 2019 4:28 PM
he will infer that he will only serve one term and then step aside and support his VP as candidate in 2024.

Which is absolutely the wrong thing to do and will throw the POTUS back to the Republicans. Everyone knows that a President really needs 8 years to implement their agenda. It really can't be done in 4 years. People will not trust a "placeholder" President.

by Anonymousreply 15December 8, 2019 4:32 PM
The War on Warren

Are you truly shitting me with this right now? She enjoyed glowing media coverage in the spring, during the summer, and then later on in October when she overtook Biden for a while. The NYT are her personal hitmen, ffs!

If anything, she hasn't been scrutinised hard enough.

by Anonymousreply 16December 8, 2019 4:34 PM

She never overtook Biden. Let’s not mix up state polls or individual polls with the cume.

by Anonymousreply 17December 8, 2019 4:54 PM
Middle class, middle age people are scared of the requisite higher taxes necessary to fund the programs that most liberals propose.

Actually, Elizabeth Warren's wealth tax is hugely popular among the public (it's even supported by half of all Republicans). Her programs would be funded largely by that tax and other corporate taxes, without raising taxes on the middle class. Numerous major economists have backed her up and say her plans for funding her proposals are perfectly plausible.

So if "middle class, middle age people" are scared, it's because they're getting the wrong information somewhere, a process that isn't being helped by you spreading misinformation.

by Anonymousreply 18December 8, 2019 5:07 PM

All the candidates are getting chewed on-- it just runs in cycles.

by Anonymousreply 19December 8, 2019 5:30 PM

Pete’s problem with attracting African American support is brought up in nearly all articles thats written about him. EVERY ARTICLE. How many articles written about Warrens history in this election cycle ? The fact that she pretended to be a native american for most of her life ? The fact that she acted chummy with the draconic Federalist Society ? The fact that she represented many of the big corporations that she is fighting now until she became super rich ? Can u imagine how much defensive Warren has to be in GE ? Give me a break. I know she will compete against Trump a walking indictment but Trumps scandals, history and crimes are all out in the open with news channels talking about him 24*7 . People got used to his stupidity. Warren has been protected so badly. She will crumble during the GE campaign.

by Anonymousreply 20December 8, 2019 6:44 PM

If Pete wants black support, then he should stop taking money from the cast members of a [italic]Gimme A Break[/italic] ripoff, a [italic]Living Single[/italic] ripoff, and the show ABC canceled [italic]Webster[/italic] for.

by Anonymousreply 21December 8, 2019 6:53 PM

She’s unelectable

by Anonymousreply 22December 8, 2019 6:54 PM
Sexism. Very obvious.

Yes, sexism against gay men by heterosexual women.

by Anonymousreply 23December 8, 2019 7:01 PM

Trump v Biden or Trump v Mayor Pete is more interesting for the media and public than Trump v Warren or Trump v Sanders.

Trump is more likely to be thrown off by Mayor Pete or Biden. That makes him more unpredictable and more likely to say or do something appalling that will get media play for a few weeks

by Anonymousreply 24December 8, 2019 7:14 PM

The fact that she said her son went to public school when it's been demonstrated by yearbooks and classmates that he went to private school. But she will continue to fight against school vouchers. She needs to go silent on that issue because when you attack people's children and education, you end up losing all around.

by Anonymousreply 25December 8, 2019 7:18 PM

All of the moderate candidates (Biden, Pete, and Amy) have been getting shit on in the media. They are being held to a way different standard than all of the others. The media has been portraying Bernie and Warren in glowing terms. You would think that Bernie was a spry 40 year old in perfect health if you just followed the media. You would think that Pete was the only candidate who has low numbers among black democrats. There is no war on Warren. She did this to herself.

by Anonymousreply 26December 8, 2019 7:24 PM

Nope. Not pissed. She’s not sidelined.

by Anonymousreply 27December 8, 2019 7:31 PM

Is there a war against Warren too? I already knew about the war against Christmas and the War on Thanksgiving. I listen to the War Against Drugs, but I didn't know there is a war against Elizabeth Warren. Are there any wars against Tulsi Gabbard or Mike Gravel or Passover?

by Anonymousreply 28December 9, 2019 12:35 AM

There's a War on Trump, a War on Sanders, and a War on Warren.

by Anonymousreply 29December 9, 2019 12:43 AM

Warren's pathetic attack on Pete is embarrassing. He'll wipe his ass with her scarf in the next debate.

by Anonymousreply 30December 15, 2019 6:13 AM

Hahahah, r6. Yes, he's accomplished so much in his 30 years in Congress. He'd be a president who accomplishes nothing, but will continue delivering his pointless stump speech wherever he goes.

As for Warren? Please. This woman has the support of the left-wing media. She's their darling, as they find her more exciting than Biden. Of course, Pete and others have challenged her completely inconsistent and unrealistic "plans," and the public started taking notice. She didn't even fucking know how she'd pay for M4A until after the last debate, when she quickly had to put together a "plan for that."

by Anonymousreply 31December 15, 2019 6:22 AM

Pete will get what his endgame really is: a place as a talking head at an outlet such as CNN or (maybe) MSNBC. His numbers will drop by the time of the convention since he has nothing truly new or game changing to say, just the usual centrist tropes which may as well be repeated by any somewhat socially progressive centrist Republican.

by Anonymousreply 32December 15, 2019 6:25 AM

Anyone but Pete. Preferably Bernie. Then Warren. Last choice Biden. I will not vote for Pete under any circumstances.

by Anonymousreply 33December 15, 2019 6:27 AM

Biden, Warren, and Bernie will fail. Pete is magic. He's connecting in the heartland.

by Anonymousreply 34December 15, 2019 6:35 AM

At least Warren has some accomplishments in her life. What has Bernie accomplished in his 30 years of congress? Nothing. He is mostly talk.

by Anonymousreply 35December 15, 2019 6:47 AM

There is no "war" on any candidate. Again, do you know how the media works? At least this is what I understand:

1) Each for profit media organization (or almost all) have a defined demographic (based upon their sponsors) that they target. These are not-for-profit organizations. The all mighty dollar rules here.

2) Based on this demographic, they carry stories that appeal to these people. For the most part. Of course the headline-of-the-moment that attracts all readers is usually featured. Anything to get someone to read or click through to their publication or outlet(s).

3) Gone are the days of a Hearst or Pulitzer lording over their publications and dictating what gets printed. It is all about demographics.

4) If stories about your candidate are not as frequent as you would like, perhaps your candidate isn't providing any "news worthy" fodder to be published or broadcast. Warren got great coverage when it was announced how she proposed to pay for health insurance for all. But it wasn't as favorable as she would have liked. Sanders, from what I can see, is more or less a broken record - no new information. Trump (now this is key) gets everyone's attention because what he says and does. Buttigieg, you might have noticed, varies his message almost daily, with a new angle, and that gets picked up more often.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about any of the above.

by Anonymousreply 36December 15, 2019 6:59 AM
Anyone but Pete. Preferably Bernie. Then Warren. Last choice Biden. I will not vote for Pete under any circumstances.

Then you are an idiot and haven't learned a thing from the last election. You think Trump is bad now? Wait until he gets reelected because of people like you. They wont beat a dead horse and try to impeach him again, he will be completely unleashed and unrestrained too do what he wants. But go right ahead with your childish, homophobic I hate Pete sign while Trump eliminates everything you think you were going to get with Bernie. Forget about free college, you are going to have to pay those things off with interest or go to jail. Forget about universal health care, Obama care will be completely eliminate as will pre-exiting condition clause and life time capes. Woman's right to choose? Ha, Ha, that's funny, woman should be punished and will go to jail, Trump even said so. Forget about global warming, Trump has already green lighted drilling for oil in our national forest. Yes, go sit home, help Trump win and enjoy the shitty world because you are so immature that you cant handle not getting your Barbie Mystery Dream Date President.

by Anonymousreply 37December 15, 2019 7:15 AM

Good because she will lose to Trump. The only hope is a man and not the gay one, unfortunately. American, like Britain, are too conservative for any alternative.

by Anonymousreply 38December 15, 2019 8:59 AM

r33 You mean that literally? So you'd vote for Trump or Gabbard over Pete?

by Anonymousreply 39December 15, 2019 9:19 AM

Warren lost my respect when she changed her mind on Medicare For All. She is disgusting and progressives can not and will not trust her!

by Anonymousreply 40December 15, 2019 2:57 PM

R38 is right unfortunately. Trump will wreck anyone who isn't straight and male and white. His strength is how good he is at agitating the worst prejudices. It's a shame Bernie and Biden are so old. If either was still in his 50s it would be a slam dunk for Dems.

The good news is if he does win a second term, any dem could win the following election. Apathy will kick in for his base and there'll be a general hunger for change.

by Anonymousreply 41December 15, 2019 3:12 PM

No, because they did it to Beto first, then Kamala, so fuck Warren, the media, and also Pete.

by Anonymousreply 42December 15, 2019 3:29 PM

The media is sexist and ageist.

by Anonymousreply 43December 15, 2019 3:59 PM
Warren lost my respect when she changed her mind on Medicare For All.

She didn't "change her mind." She still supports it. But she introduced a plan for phasing it in during a transitional period, which, honestly, makes a lot of sense.

by Anonymousreply 44December 15, 2019 8:44 PM

R44, No its doesn't. her plans not good enough and real progressives are not falling for it. Getting rid of private insurance is the ultamite goal.

There should be mo difference in the healthcare that millionaires like Elizabeth Warren get and the health care families below the poverty level get. Warren can choke with that public option nonsense. Sounds just like Pete's BS.

by Anonymousreply 45December 15, 2019 8:58 PM

R41, if Orange Jesus is allowed to steal 2020, there won’t BE a next election.

by Anonymousreply 46December 15, 2019 9:16 PM

She wasn't bold enough to challenge Hillary the last time and that showed she is not the leadership type. Sanders is dreadful like Jeremy Corbyn but at least he is bolder.

by Anonymousreply 47December 15, 2019 9:24 PM
The media is sexist and ageist.

Woman had their chance, Her name was Hillary. They blew it. More white woman voted for Trump than the first woman to ever get that close to the Presidency.

Even if Warren were to win the Democratic nomination, she would lose in general because woman don't trust other woman as much as they trust men who even lie to their face. In there lies the rub.

by Anonymousreply 49December 16, 2019 1:44 AM
More white woman voted for Trump than the first woman to ever get that close to the Presidency.

More non-white women did not vote for Trump, but presumably you think they don't really count as women?

by Anonymousreply 50December 16, 2019 3:23 AM

White Women make of the largest percentage of female voters R50 so. Yeah, as a group, the majority still voted for Trump.

And from the looks of it, black woman seem to hate Pete and have said things on this very board they would rather have Trump.

by Anonymousreply 51December 16, 2019 3:26 AM

The media paints her like Emma Goldman.

by Anonymousreply 52December 16, 2019 3:37 AM

Like Harris and Beto, she was a " Flavor of the week."

by Anonymousreply 53December 16, 2019 3:40 AM
Is anyone else pissed that she seems to be sidelined by the media, who are determined to shove Mayor Pete and/or Biden down our throats?

It doesn't matter who you like or don't.

The fact that the media is shaping the narrative period should be annoying.

That's a lot of power to have.

by Anonymousreply 54December 16, 2019 4:10 AM

I can’t stand Warren. She’s clueless about perception and messaging. So was Harris.

by Anonymousreply 55December 16, 2019 5:12 AM

Warren is not some low paid teacher, she is a millionaire and so is Bernie many times over. Her schtick about being middle class is kind of thin as is Bern.
