My memory of Whoopi’s comment was that it was about Polanski, based on her supposition that the minors he had sex with consented, and that in her opinion there’s a difference between statutory rape and a violent assault at gunpoint or knifepoint. People used to debate that. That of course is no longer a debate anyone would entertain today.

Regardless of what Whoopi said or about whom she said it, it was characteristically low of Trump, and an obvious ploy to shift attention away from his own family’s wrongs.

If we were a sane, adult, civil society, then we could have reasonable debates about whether Behar dressing in costume as a black woman is the same thing as historically racist blackface performances, or about the differences between unforced but legally nonconsensual sex with adolescents and a violent, forced sexual assault. But we’re not. Whoopi’s opinion about “rape rape” and Joy’s decision to dress in costume as a black person are potentially offensive due to the passing of time, whereas the Trump family’s offenses in many cases would be offensive, immoral, unethical, anti-American, corrupt or even patently illegal regardless of the eras in which they’ve been committed. And of course Donald Trump Junior would dredge up the worst possible offenses he can find about anyone as ammunition against them, knowing that he will need a distraction from his countless crimes against law and decency.

R299 I’ve seriously never known anyone who listens to any of them but all of them are mainstays on daytime talk shows. They must sell to housewives for some reason. Groban has sold over 25 million albums and is worth $30 million. So weird.

I went to a Josh Groban concert this summer with my sister and her friend and it was packed to the rafters with women who are carbon copies of the DL Frau.
