HBO’s more prestige content doesn’t belong alongside some of the trash on Max like “1,000 lb Sisters” or “Flip Flip House” or whatever…

Apple should not only buy HBO, they should overpay as much as WBD asks. It’s ideally suited to their products.

#1 reputation for quality, aspirational branding

#2 subscription offers can be used to entice new iPhone customers

#3 lacks a theatrical distribution arm; projects would simply be pipelined to the streaming platform/linear channel, removing unnecessary waste like $200 million each budgets for Killers, Napoleon and Argyle

#4 would not have to sit alongside cheap content like it does at Max

#5 would allow Apple to eliminate almost everyone at Apple films and replace them with experienced content people

#6 AppleTV plus is a steaming turd, so rebranding as HBO eliminates need to build brand awareness with expensive commitments like they offer stars now for quickly forgotten vanity projects (Ghosted)

#7 will be able to generate revenue by leasing older titles to rivals like HBO does now with Netflix. Apple Original series just sit in ApplePlus gathering dust.
