I’ve noticed a trend of trans people adopting religions differently from what they were raised with. I saw one white Australian who was really into Hinduism.
Their interest could be genuine but it seems more likely that they’re trying on different religions/cultures as a costume. I’m surprised the “cultural appropriation” crowd hasn’t started screeching about this.
These people have zero identity of their own and try everything under the sun to see what sticks but none of their zillions of identities last for long. It’s sad.

r7 Not just trans, straight fraus in the west converting to Islam as a way of rebelling against their fathers has been going on for ages. They always regret it when they get hitched to a Muslim guy, the beatings start, and they suddenly find themselves without any support system of their own. Only independently loaded ones like Sinéad O'Connor can afford to do that cosplay without any consequences.
It's also a convenient substitute for a lack of personality, like you said.

by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 5, 2024 5:01 PM |
I guess it's fun to try on new religions as a form of drag, but Islam is a different story. You can renounce Christ or walk away from Buddhism or announce you're never going back to Temple, and nothing will really happen. But Muslims take apostasy -- renouncing Islam -- very seriously. Some Muslim countries actually consider it a death penalty crime.
Oh well. If this individual should ever fall afoul of fundamentalists, it's no biggie. As a they/them, they're plural, so they have at least one more self that will survive.

Between this and the other shemalé with the keffiyeh with xyr own thread I have noticed something and would like to make a hypothesis
There has always been a known predilection for people on the autism spectrum to support extreme left or extreme right politics (both Karl Marx and Hitler are generally agreed to have has ASD)
[quote]Anyone who has ever been part of a socialist or Left-wing activist group will also have noticed a disproportionately high number of people exhibiting traits typically associated with autistic spectrum conditions, compared to the general population.
This same article notes
[quote]Likewise, there is an established link between trans and non-binary identities and autism.
Islam is a severe religion, I myself have always personally described it as autistic. Given the current fetishization of Palestinian suffering as well as the fetishization of nonbinary identities, would this not be the logical conclusion of an autistic person with a nonbinary identity to pursue?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 5, 2024 5:30 PM |
I will also point out how unusual Birdy’s word intonations are. There is a cartoonish, studied quality. It reminded me of Michael Jackson’s “in character” speaking voice, full of extravagant and twee pronunciations (“that’s ignorant!”).
Michael Jackson, almost certainly autistic, did not actually talk like that behind the scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 5, 2024 5:41 PM |
They’ve run out of genders and mental disorders and now the trend is religion.

It's a joke video, people. Tattoos are forbidden in Islam:
"According to some sources, tattoos are not permissible in Islam because they are a change to Allah's creation. Islam views the body as a gift from Allah that should be returned in good condition. Some say that tattooing the body: Mutilates it, Changes God's creation, Inflicts unnecessary pain, Introduces the possibility of infection, and Allah cursed those who practice tattooing for cosmetic or aesthetic purposes."

Yes what’s interesting about Birdy is that she does not seem Aspergic watching her video. Aspergians tend to be quiet and aloof, like the disappointed Cillian Murphy meme.
But watching the video at r23, the way she begins to draw the line of logic through different pieces of information is how Aspergians think. I think this way. The BBC Sherlock was good at depicting this.
So “Birdy” is best understood as a character created by an autistic person as a coping mechanism. It does not matter if what she is saying is inherently illogical because she knows this and may even take joy from the confusion she causes.

by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 5, 2024 8:13 PM |
We actually all should be against "Judeo-Christian tradition" r42. Getting back to that shit wouldn't really be a good thing, although it might be better than Islamic fundamentalism.
Enlightenment secular values are infinitely better, and I hope every European and North American country will do its best to promote those, for both Muslims and Christians.

That’s a parody video
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 5, 2024 8:27 PM |
R46 For what it's worth, "Judeo-Christianity" is literally just Christianity. There's no actual Judaism in there other than the fact that Christians read and regularly misinterpret the Old Testament to fit their own doctrine. The "Judeo-Christian tradition" is the Christian tradition—nothing more.

Islamic fundamentalism = 12th Century.

The three Abrahams gave nothing but trouble and strife to the world, what good have they done? I can't think of anything.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 5, 2024 8:44 PM |
The term is 200 years old, coined by an Antisemite trying to sneakily convert Jews to Christianity. It's now used by evangelical Christians who fetishize Judaism, and I see it mainly employed in the US to try and convince right-leaning Jews to go along with political agendas or movements. Just look at Dennis Prager's whole enterprise (he uses this term frequently), it's entirely based around attempting to align Jews with evangelical Christians politically.
I’d love the opportunity to challenge anyone who uses the phrase to name me 3 values shared by Judaism and Christianity but no other major world religion.
Some dipshit Catholic priest (Father Mike) used it in an interview in the NYT Magazine a couple of years ago, right before he claimed that Judaism, like Catholicism, has a total ban on abortions. So you can see the level of ignoramus that uses the phrase.

I think Birdy is choosing to live in a limbo state known as what-will-make-me-seem-as-unique-as-possiblitis. Judging by his/her voice I think she/he was once a female who has taken cross sex male hormones.

by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 5, 2024 11:01 PM |
I would say that Judeo-Christian as a term was and maybe is a lame attempt to undo 1600+ years of anti-semitism on the part of Christians against Jews. Especially after WWII when it finally impinged on the consciences of a good many Christians in the Europe and the US that Hitler's genocide didn't spring up out of nowhere, Christians, (some of them of good will) tried to find commonalities between the two religions to say "maybe it was a mistake to have treated this other religion like shit for all these centuries".
But given that Christians are taught about the major figures of Jewish religion (about Noah, Abraham, the patriarchs, Moses, and the prophets and Kings David and Solomon), and in fact, are probably more familiar with them, their writings and their contribution to the "story" of Israel than with the architects of Christian thought and theology (Augustine, Gregory, Aquinas, and others). I think objectively a person would have to say that there ARE commonalities between the religions - at least in being familiar with the same cast of religious characters..
For sure, the notion that Old Testament Scriptures somehow "prove" that Jesus was the Messiah and that his life and actions were all foretold long before his birth is pretty much nonsense. However, Jesus' own teachings (at least as they appear in the Gospels written long after his death) are not that far out of line with some streams of Jewish theology. Only the self-proclaiming of himself as Messiah doesn't belong in that tradition, although there have been numerous Jews through the centuries that either proclaimed themselves as messiahs or were proclaimed as such by their followers.
Mainly, I see the differences between the two religions as being that Christians are taught to believe in salvation, (through Jesus) and that the goal of life is to die in a state of belief and/or leading a devout life so that a person will ultimately go to heaven, whereas as Jews are more focused on the here -and now, the importance of adhering to tradition and being righteous human beings, and to promote the concept of monotheism to the rest of humanity. .

by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 5, 2024 11:15 PM |
Oh, hell, everyone steals everything r66. The Jews stole old Babylonian and Canaanite and Egyptian myths. Although, really, what they did was take old stories that everybody told and retold and reshaped them into their own crazy ass mythology and even their own crazy ass "history." Then of course, Christians and Muslims continued to build on the crazy, incorporating their own nonsense.
