Near catastrophic high speed horse chase through the streets of Central London
I assume "catastrophic" means death or grievous bodily injury, hence the "near" part. But the footage and photos really are dramatic.
Blood on pavement and smashed vehicles after horses tear through London
All the runaway military horses that became loose this morning in central London have been caught
Noise from builders near Buckingham Palace caused the horses from the Household Cavalry to bolt during a rehearsal
An Army spokesman told the BBC that five horses ran loose and four soldiers were unseated
The Army says "a number of personnel and horses" are injured - the ambulance service says at least four people are hurt
Horses collided with several vehicles, including a double-decker tour bus left with a smashed windscreen
Two of the horses were caught in Limehouse - five miles away from where the incident began

I thought these horses were well trained. This wouldn’t have happened during Elizabeth’s rein [sic].

The blood was from at least one horse. A white one is seen galloping covered in blood from a collision with a vehicle. Be aware when you scroll through, it might be upsetting. All were recovered and are under veterinary care.
Building materials were dropped from a height at Buckingham and landed right by tge horses. That would freak out the best train horse or human. I assume they're going to investigate.

But there were no RIDERS on the horses of doom, r12.
Doesn’t that negate the Apocalypse?

The unhorsed guys probably took bad falls. I thought they trained their horses better. A NY Police horse has to train for riots. Can't imagine a little building spill bothering them.

[QUOTE]The Household Cavalry provides the so-called Sovereign’s Escort, seen at ceremonial events such as Trooping the Color, state visits, and other royal occasions.
Maybe these horses received different training than police horse counterparts that are used in riot and crowd control? Apparently, this is routine a routine exercise through the area.
One of the soldiers is described as screaming on pain from injuries after hitting the pavement. I hope it's not serious.

Few things are more awful than runaway horses. Fight or flight and they are unstoppable until collapsing. It’s always so dumb to see people standing in front of them waving their arms, even at horse venues where you’d think they would know better. Very little you can do unless they’re on a track with outriders.

They do suck though. Our advice is that you should not click on the link and whatever you do, don't read their truly terrible articles.]

[quote]It was heartbreaking to see a one-tonne horse like that in so much pain.
This can't be right, can it? A British "tonne" is even more than an American "ton."
