Julie Andrews

She is an actress.

At the age of 13 she sang at a Royal Command performance. Before she was 20 she became a Broadway star, playing the lead roles in The Boyfriend and My Fair Lady. She won an Oscar for the first film she ever made, Mary Poppins, and the worldwide affection of millions for her second, The Sound of Music.

What more is there to be said? She is, of course, Julie Andrews.

I love it that James Wan used her as the voice of The Kraken in his Aquaman movie.

by Anonymousreply 2November 4, 2023 12:51 AM

You just can't say anything bad about her; and she never said anything bad about anyone.

by Anonymousreply 3November 4, 2023 12:51 AM

She’s a national treasure.

Not our nation, but you know.

Actually she’s mostly our treasure.

I don’t know it she’s as beloved in her own country as she is here.

Live her.

Do you think this is news to us, 15 year old OP?

She’s about as sexy as a stuffed animal.

No wonder she married a gay man.

Julie Andrews didn't save children from Nazis, it was TRUMP.

Typical liberal lamestream media lying to REAL PEOPLE

One of the funniest non-sexy couples in movie history:

Smoldering Omar Sharif trying light a fire under sexless Julie Andrews. The movie is The Tamarind Seed (1974), directed by who else? Blake Edwards.

She’s a class act and a distinctive talent. Her Eliza is one of the great characters of the B’way stage. I’ve always loved her although it comes with a qualification. Blake Edwards was gay. It’s really their business but I’m always going to have trouble with those who cover up their real sexuality, even though in their time a career was not possible if honest. I couldn’t do it- and I’m old enough to know the damage. Did it hurt me being pretty much year in and year out during my career (academic healthcare- one of the more liberal professions)? Yes- definitely. But the toll getting married or finding beards would have taken on me would have been far worse. A lot of Hollywoods closeted leading men of the past were a mess and/or alcoholic. That’s one way of dealing with living a public lie.

I prefer Sheena Easton because she was a pop singer and was like Julie Andrews in a G-string

by Anonymousreply 21November 4, 2023 4:23 PM

R20 maybe she doesn't like sex and didn't want to be alone

by Anonymousreply 22November 4, 2023 4:24 PM

Why is she a lesbian?

by Anonymousreply 26November 4, 2023 4:44 PM

Oh fuck, the “She IS so and so” prisspot troll is back.

Let’s Recap The Obvious!

by Anonymousreply 27November 4, 2023 4:46 PM

The woman is 88 years old. Who the fuck cares?

by Anonymousreply 28November 4, 2023 4:59 PM

I highly recommend both books of her autobiography, "Home" and "Homework" especially for musicians and singers. She's not as posh as she seems!

by Anonymousreply 29November 4, 2023 5:13 PM

[quote] She's not as posh as she seems!

Yeah, not posh at all. That was a surprise when I read her memoir. She supported her deadbeat alcoholic music hall parents throughout her life starting at 12 years old.

by Anonymousreply 30November 4, 2023 5:43 PM

She pulled herself out of that. Good for her!

by Anonymousreply 31November 4, 2023 6:06 PM

Is it true she began in Hollywood as one of Heidi Fleiss’ girls?

She made 3 good movies and two great obcs and I wish she hadn't showed her boobs. I mean I wouldn't have wanted to see Irene Dunne's boobs either and she was one of the greatest. Considering Julie's talents not the greatest of careers. She would have had a better career under the old studio system. And of course the worst thing for her was meeting up with Blake. LAW steals V/V.

by Anonymousreply 33November 4, 2023 10:10 PM

She had a good career

by Anonymousreply 34November 4, 2023 10:37 PM

She's a down to earth legend...like Angie.

by Anonymousreply 35November 4, 2023 10:41 PM

R35 Angie Dickenson?

by Anonymousreply 36November 4, 2023 10:42 PM

So what. She likes pussy. Classy pussy.

by Anonymousreply 37November 4, 2023 10:44 PM

She and Plummer did On Golden Pond on TV - it was terrible and she proved she can’t act. He wasn’t particularly good either. She usually had the it factor regardless. But I turned that sad thing off.

by Anonymousreply 38November 4, 2023 10:59 PM

Julie and Barbra would usher out the the big movie musical era.

R38 Wasn't that broadcast live? I think lots of famous actors would suck if you took the luxury of doing multiple takes away from them.

by Anonymousreply 42November 5, 2023 1:15 AM

I wish Carol and her "chum" would just come out already.

by Anonymousreply 43November 5, 2023 2:33 AM

^^ Amen!

by Anonymousreply 44November 5, 2023 4:30 AM

R42 On Golden Pond was is a play, many people have done it live. Plummer and Andrews both had stage experience.

Love Julie in The Princess Diaries!

by Anonymousreply 46April 25, 2024 2:32 AM

I worked with a mousy little lesbian who had a crush on Julie and became her stalker. She followed her in her car. Once Julie got out and yelled at her at a red light. Didn't stop her. She told me she broke into Julie's home in London. I told her I didn't believe her and she came in the next day with personal photographs of Julie on vacation with her family that she had taken from the house.

by Anonymousreply 47April 25, 2024 2:50 AM

R47 copies of the pics?

by Anonymousreply 52April 25, 2024 3:43 AM

She also wrote a children’s book: The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles. I remember loving it. I don’t recall the plot but I there was an animal, maybe a unicorn 🦄 that had a sweet tooth, and on the tooth was a little daisy. Cute.

Soft butch Lesbian

R22, maybe she wanted a husband who would keep her working by casting her in film after film.
