Julie Andrews
She is an actress.
At the age of 13 she sang at a Royal Command performance. Before she was 20 she became a Broadway star, playing the lead roles in The Boyfriend and My Fair Lady. She won an Oscar for the first film she ever made, Mary Poppins, and the worldwide affection of millions for her second, The Sound of Music.
What more is there to be said? She is, of course, Julie Andrews.

I love it that James Wan used her as the voice of The Kraken in his Aquaman movie.

She’s a national treasure.
Not our nation, but you know.
Actually she’s mostly our treasure.
I don’t know it she’s as beloved in her own country as she is here.
Live her.

One of the funniest non-sexy couples in movie history:
Smoldering Omar Sharif trying light a fire under sexless Julie Andrews. The movie is The Tamarind Seed (1974), directed by who else? Blake Edwards.

She’s a class act and a distinctive talent. Her Eliza is one of the great characters of the B’way stage. I’ve always loved her although it comes with a qualification. Blake Edwards was gay. It’s really their business but I’m always going to have trouble with those who cover up their real sexuality, even though in their time a career was not possible if honest. I couldn’t do it- and I’m old enough to know the damage. Did it hurt me being pretty much year in and year out during my career (academic healthcare- one of the more liberal professions)? Yes- definitely. But the toll getting married or finding beards would have taken on me would have been far worse. A lot of Hollywoods closeted leading men of the past were a mess and/or alcoholic. That’s one way of dealing with living a public lie.

I highly recommend both books of her autobiography, "Home" and "Homework" especially for musicians and singers. She's not as posh as she seems!

Yeah, not posh at all. That was a surprise when I read her memoir. She supported her deadbeat alcoholic music hall parents throughout her life starting at 12 years old.

She made 3 good movies and two great obcs and I wish she hadn't showed her boobs. I mean I wouldn't have wanted to see Irene Dunne's boobs either and she was one of the greatest. Considering Julie's talents not the greatest of careers. She would have had a better career under the old studio system. And of course the worst thing for her was meeting up with Blake. LAW steals V/V.

She and Plummer did On Golden Pond on TV - it was terrible and she proved she can’t act. He wasn’t particularly good either. She usually had the it factor regardless. But I turned that sad thing off.

I worked with a mousy little lesbian who had a crush on Julie and became her stalker. She followed her in her car. Once Julie got out and yelled at her at a red light. Didn't stop her. She told me she broke into Julie's home in London. I told her I didn't believe her and she came in the next day with personal photographs of Julie on vacation with her family that she had taken from the house.

She also wrote a children’s book: The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles. I remember loving it. I don’t recall the plot but I there was an animal, maybe a unicorn 🦄 that had a sweet tooth, and on the tooth was a little daisy. Cute.
